Shoes are my favorite piece of clothing. I love shoes, but especially the heels.
There are so many shoe shops with so many shoes ... If I could I would buy all them.
Although I have to say that I'm very particular with the shoes. As I don't can buy all shoes, I try to buy the shoes that I like more and the shoes are the best for me and for that reason, I can spend an hour to buy only one pair of shoes.
Since I can remember, I have been a crazy shoes. If I could, I'd buy shoes of each color, of different heel height and different width of heel, open shoes, closed shoes, shoes for winter, shoes for summer, ... There are so many possibilities ....
Although I have to say that there are some heels that are very ugly and I'd never buy them, like these:
Good morning! My name is Emma Polonio Alcalá and I wouls like present you my research project The vitamin C in orange juice.
Regarding the choice of research project topic I wanted a topic related between biology and chemistry, because they are my favourite subjects. So I asked to my teacher, Assumption Aurich, and we find the team of vitamin C in orange juice. I was interested in this topic, because I usually consume it.
My objectives were:
• What factors affect the vitamin C in natural orange juice.
• See the difference of quantity of vitamin C between in natural orange juice and elaborated orange juice.
As for the methodology:
• First I did a search to know that I had to look.
• Later, I did the practice to determining ascorbic acid with the coloring 2,6-diclorofenolindofenol.
• Finally, I did the theoric part.
Vitamins are organic substances that we are need in small amounts for proper functioning of cellular metabolism. In total there are thirteen, which are divided according to their solubility: the water-soluble, and lipo-soluble. As you can see the vitamin C is found in the water-soluble.
Vitamin C was discovered thanks to the disease caused when there is deficiency, scurvy, but it was not until 1928 that Albert von Szent-György Nagyrápolt was isolated vitamin C and he studied their biological functions. In 1934, Walter Norman Haworth synthesized and determined its structure.
Vitamin C is an organic substance, water-soluble and it derivative of a hexose and it acts as an enzyme cofactor performing accions of agent of oxidation-reduction, nuclear and mitochondrial and acts as an antioxidant in the body. It's necessary for growth, development and survival for living. For this reason, we synthesized it, but the higher primates and Cavia porcellus (guinea pig) can't synthesized it and they obtain it from the diet.
Regarding the different types of juice, we have:
• The natural fruit juices.
• The concentrate fruit juice in force.
• The concentrate fruit juice concentrate.
• dehydrated fruit juice.
• The nectar fruit.
The main objective of the practice was to achieve the objectives set, as I said, see the factors affecting the vitamin C in natural orange juice and see the difference between of quantity of vitamin C in natural orange juice and elaborated orange juice. The practice can be divided into four parts:
• The first practice is to prepare the coloring and a standard solution of ascorbic acid to standardize it. I obtained these results and from the calculations that you can see we know that 1.15 mL of the coloring is 1 mg of ascorbic acid.
• The second practice is to calculate the quantity of vitamin C in natural orange juice. We obtained these results and from the calculations that you can see we know there are 41.47 mg of ascorbic acid per 100 mL of juice.
• The third practice is to see what factors affect the ascorbic acid that is found in orange juice. Here we see the different samples and results. With this graph we can see how the sample A and B, ascorbic acid is oxidized and the reduced of quantity of vitamin C. Also shows that the E, F, G and H have mold and they undergone acidification.
• The fourth practice is to see what differences of vitamin C in differents marks of orange juice.
Regarding the conclusions:
• My objectives have been well achieved.
• The temperature affects the oxidation of vitamin C, when increases the temperature, increases oxidation and decreases the temperature decreases the oxidation.
• The bacteria that cause the molds, acidification of juices.
• Don Simon has more vitamin C of the juices analyzed.
I had a horrible oral presentation of my research project, but my presentation have a lot of difficult vocabulary that other didn't have. So, I think that I have a puntuation on 0,5.
This term, we have read in class an adapted version of Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen and then we saw the movie.
Pride and Prejudice is about the Bennet family and its protagonist is one of the daughters, Elizabeth Bennet.
It all starts when a new neighbor arrived to neighborhood, who is very rich. The neighbors were Mr. Bingley and his two sisters and Mr. Darcy.
Mr. Bingley held a party where he met Elizabeth's sister, Jane Bennet and they falled in love , but Jane is rather shy and she doesn't show her feelings to other people. But Mr. Bingley had to go to London.
Meantime, in the Bennet home arrived Mr. Bennet's cousin, William Collins, who asked to marry Elizabeth, but she rejected him. William Collins was just marrying Elizabeth's best friend, Charlotte Lucas.
At the same time, soldiers came to town and the Bennet sisters meet George Wickham, which insinuated to Elizabeth Bennet, but eventually he ran away the city with Elizabeth's sister, Lydia Bennet. Finally, they end up marrying.
Elizabeth Bennet falled for Mr.Darcy, which has been told that because of him, the Mr.Bingley left the city, as Mr.Darcy told him that Jane Bennet wasn't in love with him. Wickham tells Elizabeth that Mr.Darcy's father considered him a son and that the day he died, Mr.Darcy didn't leave any inheritance, for jealousy.
Elizabeth told what she knew to Mr.Darcy and he told the truth: it's true that he told to Mr.Bingley that Jane Bennet wasn't in love with him why she didn't show any affection in his presence and after Wickham was like his brother, and his father left him a share of the inheritance to him, but he finished it and asked to Mr.Marcy for more money and Mr.Darcy not accept the petition of Wickham and he ran away with Mr.Darcy sister, Georgiana, and then he left her.
Later, Elizabeth knows that Mr.Darcy paid Lydia's wedding and he paid to Wickham a good sum of money.
In the end, Jane Bennet and Mr. Bingley married and Elizabeth Bennet and Mr.Darcy left their pride and prejudices aside and as they are in love with each other, they also married.
I like this book, but the film is so loving. I love it!
Rolling in the deep of Adele is one of my favorite songs.
Rolling in the deep expresses so much emotions, so many passion, so many feelings and it expresses it so that each time I hear the song, gives me goose bumps and even more when I hear Adele singing live is amazing.
Adele has another song that I really like, Someone like you.
Adele is a great singer and songwriter. Also I have to say I don't usually hear the theme music of Adele, but once again demonstrates that music can't be classified, not paragraphs, because good music is heard by all the world.
Jennifer Lopez is an actress, singer, dancer, entrepreneur, producer and fashion designer from the
Bronx (New York).
A few months ago, I saw a program on MTV about her life and her career, in which also she was interviewed and I began to hear some of her latest songs as "Papi" or "I'm Into You", then I began to hear the oldest songs and finally some songs hooked me.
Before the program on MTV, I thought that Jennifer Lopez was conceited and for this reason I rejected her music a bit, but after seeing it, turned the tables.
I wanted to make this post because I'd like to say that Jennifer Lopez appears more than she is. If you look her videos, we can see how she always puts sexy face, but the reality is that she is rather simple and very real. She knows how to wear in front of a camera.
Jennifer Lopez isn't a great singer, but she has a top party songs that people like.
When I finish second of batxillerat, I would like to do biomedical sciences in UAB.
The biomedical sciences is a specialization of a part of Biotechnology. The professional career to which I want to dedicate is the medicine is that performed in the laboratory. To you give an idea of what it is, I'll give you an example: if you're sick and go to the hospital, they will make you some tests and they will surely blood samples, then these blood samples are taken to the laboratory and people who have studied biomedical sciences analyzes it and they obtained the results. Another example would be: if you are sick and have a new virus, that is, you're the host, from your blood that contains the initial virus makes the antivirus.
Just writing it, I'm excited.
I know it will be a tough career, only for the fact that in the morning there are classes in the laboratory and in the afternoon there are theory classes until 7 or 8 pm. Still, I get it and I will. Nothing is impossible.
This year I decided I wanted to dress in Roses because the Carnival of Rosesis the best of Alt Empordà. So my boyfriend and I dressed up in the group La Penya de l'Esperdenya, who disguised themselves as Jessie, the cowgirl from Toy Story 2.
The carnival began on Thursday, but I had a exam on Friday, I couldn't attend the party on Thursday. So that, the party started for me on Friday.
On Friday, we had passed through the Maritime Walk of Roses at ten o'clock at night, but we had to be from nine o'clock at night. We ate, drank and danced what we wanted and more. After the last, we went to l'Envalat who organized the City of Roses, but I had had enough sleep up early and I wanted to go to sleep.
On Saturday, we had passed through the Maritime Walk of Roses at four o'clock at afternoon, but my boyfriend
and I arrived an hour late. We couldn't enjoy almost anything from infant walk, but then we stayed until seven o'clock at afternoon with the rest of our group and we were dancing, eating and drinking. At night, in the Municipal Pavilion, they had a discomobil and we went to dance a little time.
On Sunday, we had passed through the Maritime Walk of Roses at twelve o'clock at morning and this time my boyfriend and I arrived early and soon we began to eat, drink and dance. When the hearse arrived at the port, we were all there group until seven o'clock at afternoon, when the same hearse took us home. After, at night they had discomobil, but I couldn't go because the next day had class and exam.
On Monday, there was popular arrossada, but it was very cold for wind and my boyfriend brought to his home the rice and we ate together. I stood with him until eight o'clock and then I went to my home.
I could have enjoyed this carnival if in my school they hadn't put exams in carnival time.
That weekend, the only thing I did was eat, drink, dance, sleep and have fun with my boyfriend. No worries on the head.
Still, this carnival has been the best of all, and I repeat next year.
This New Year's Eve wasn't more special than other years.
At night, I had dinner with my grandparents and we ate the grapes together with half a bottle of champagne.
After giving the strokes, my parents took me to Roses where I met my boyfriend and we went to Chic Deluxe to celebrate Nwe Year's Eve. We drank a lot, but we also had a great time.
What I liked about this New Year's Eve is that I faced my problems with other people and soon after I could fix it.
What I didn't like about this New Year's Eve is that my boyfriend and I took a photo and we didn't hung it : (
It is generally agreed that we are looking for a perfect person for living the rest of our lives.
My ideal partner has to be quite tall and handsome, green-eyed and thick lips. I'd like a broad neck and a broad-shouldered man. I'd like that my ideal partner to eat health food and goes to gym several days in week, too. My perfect partner has to be rather loving, hot-hearted and thin-skinned. He can't surrender early, because I like people who fight for their dreams. Nonetheless, the most important feature of my dreamt partner is that he makes me laugh and makes me happy and he understands me and listen all my stories, reflections, thinkings, silly things,... In conclusion, I want a good guy.
Kyoto, the ancient imperial capital, now there are people who fight for follow the Japanese tradition like make mats, working as a geisha or follow the philosophy of Aikido, but there are also people who live a day, working with the latest technologies, as Kyoto is a of the cities most technologically advanced.
The hackers entered NASA's system. During 2010 and 2011 they had more than 5000 computer accidents related endangered of information from NASA.
You can't tell for certain who it is because there are people who do it for pleasure and there are other people that makes a profit, within which there have been arrests in several countries.
Therefore, the information of NASA is in constant danger.
My research project is a study of vitamin C in orange juice. In my project, I introduced a theorical framework to vitamin C and differents types of juices and in the practical part I determined vitamin C content in differents tests I carried out.
Regarding vitamin C, I approched its definition, its structure, its behaviour, its determination and its production.
As for the differents types of juice, I gave the definition of differents types of juices, its making and its current regulation.
Finally, the practice, I realised four practices where I prepared the coloring for determined vitamin C and a ascorbic acid solution to standardize. Later, I reckoned a quanty of vitamin C in natural orange juice, I saw differents factors that it affect ascorbic acid and I calculated a quanty of vitamin C of differents elaborated orange juice.
It is generally agreed that Internet is addictive and it turns people crazy. However, sometimes Internet helps make the world a better place to live.
On the one hand, Internet has horrible things like pornography or worst, children pornography, illegal downloads, suplantation of identities, more people are addicted to Internet, the Facebook, Twitter or other social network,...
On the other hand, we can see that Internet helps to show injusticies around the world with applications like Youtube, Blogs, Wikies,... moreover we can see the real situations because, are we sure that the media say it's true? For example, the media didn't say what "the idignate people" wants, although with Blogs and Facebook, we could know the real motives of "the indignate people" and more people united with them.
Finally, I agree that Internet has horrible things. Nonetheless if we avoid this type of things we can have a good Internet and can see the good things of Internet and it makes the world a better place.
Some Sweden scientists have made track of 1230 women who have had cervical cancer.
The conclusions drawn were:
- Cured more women who are diagnosed cervical cancer with smear test than to detect with diagnosis symptoms.
- The chance of being cured of cervical cancer increases if it's detected early. Therefore, the Swedish cervical screening women aged 23-50 programme invites to attend every three years and women aged 51-60 to attend every five years.
